Somerset v Middlesex: Match Preview & Squad

over 8 years ago | Uncategorised

In front of a capacity 28,000 crowd at Lord's tonight, Middlesex showed just what they're capable of achieving in the short format of the game, when demolishing local rivals Surrey by 43 runs and slamming the brakes on their rival's hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of this year's NatWest T20 Blast competition.

Whilst only pride was at stake for Middlesex, the Seaxes needed no other incentive, as the boys from the Kia Oval were nonchalantly sent packing and Middlesex enacted sweet revenge for the earlier defeat three weeks ago at the Kia Oval in the return fixture.

Tomorrow, in what can really only best be described as the deadest of rubbers, Middlesex travel to Taunton, to take on a Somerset side, whose T20 form has all but deserted them in recent weeks.

Whilst tomorrow's game again has nothing other than pride riding on it, it will be Middlesex who go into the fixture with momentum on their side, after Somerset slipped up again tonight against a rampant Hampshire side.

Middlesex will be keen to repeat tonight's dominant performance at Lord's when they take on Somerset tomorrow at Taunton and look to benefit from the confidence that an unbeaten T20 run will create as they head into Sunday's opening Royal London One Day Cup fixture against Warwickshire at Lord's on Sunday.

Middlesex have named the following 13-man squad to play at Taunton tomorrow evening:

Eoin Morgan (c), Neil Dexter, Steven Finn, Nick Gubbins, Ryan Higgins, Dawid Malan, Mitchell McClenaghan, Ravi Patel, Harry Podmore, Ollie Rayner, Gurjit Sandhu, George Scott & John Simpson (wk).
