Middlesex's 2015 Inclusion Day

over 8 years ago|Uncategorised

On Tuesday 2nd June, the Home of Cricket opened its gates to over 900 participants, staff and carers from 40 schools, colleges and community groups from across our County. This was the 3rd time this annual event was run and we are delighted that with each year, the event has got bigger and better! Working in partnership with MCC, we were able to offer attendees a variety of activities on the day, including, a tour of Lord’s, Table Cricket under the Mound Stand, the opportunity to play some cricket in the Academy and of course the chance to watch the pro’s in action as MCCC took on Warwickshire on day 3 of the LV County Championship.

This year’s Inclusion Day also hosted our inaugural Middlesex Supported Learning College League Finals Day, which four teams were involved in: Richmond upon Thames College, City of Westminster College, Tower Hamlets College and Hackney College. The League is a spin-off from the Lord’s Taverners Disability Cricket Championships, designed with the aim of encouraging further participation from colleges from across Middlesex and making such Finals Days a regular fixture in Middlesex’s disability cricket competitions structure. Many congratulations to Tower Hamlets College, the summer 2015 champions!

The Middlesex Disability Cricket Performance Programme were given a huge boost ahead of the season with the announcement of a 2yr sponsorship deal by Lanes Group Plc, covering a range of expenses for the County disability squads. We were pleased to be able to welcome Conrad Ashby, Thames Water Managing Director for Lanes Utilities, to Inclusion Day for a lunch interval cheque presentation, accepted by Harry Latchman, MCCC president. Many thanks to Lanes Group for their investment and involvement.

Finally, a big thank you to everyone who made the event possible and provided all attendees with an experience of Lord’s we hope they will never forget, including all Middlesex Cricket & MCC staff and the teachers, teaching assistants, support workers & carers. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
