Brooks Macdonald Player of the Month for April: Adam Voges

over 8 years ago|Uncategorised

Middlesex County Cricket Club and their principal sponsor Brooks Macdonald have named Australian overseas star, Adam Voges, as their choice for the Brooks Macdonald Player of the Month for April 2015, following an exceptional month with the bat, which helped Middlesex get off to an unbeaten start in their LV= County Championship Division One campaign.

Adam continued the fabulous form he was in over the winter with Western Australia, which earned him a call-up to the Australian Test squad, with three crucial innings for Middlesex in the county’s two opening fixtures, which played a major role in ultimately taking Middlesex to the top of the LV= County Championship table.

Voges' run tally of 331 in April at an average of 82.75, saw Middlesex secure a hard fought draw against Nottinghamshire in their opening encounter at Lord’s, before he hit 98 in Middlesex’s first innings against Somerset and 132 in the second, to guide Middlesex to a brilliant victory at Taunton, chasing down a 400+ target to win the game on a tense final day.

With his off spin, Voges also collected three wickets against Nottinghamshire and another against Somerset, to finish the month with four wickets to his name at an average of 28, which included the match turning wicket of Marcus Trescothick down at Taunton.

Voges' fluent run-scoring and brilliant captaincy set the platform on which Middlesex built their confidence, as a move into May saw his side continue their great form with two further wins against Durham and Sussex which saw them rise to the top of the Division One table.

On being named as the Brooks Macdonald Player of the Month for April 2015, Adam Voges commented...

“It’s been nice to have had an impact in the short time that I’m here. We’re playing some good cricket and I’m just glad that I’ve been able to contribute.”

During the interval of Middlesex's NatWest T20 Blast match against Kent yesterday at Lord's, Managing Director of Cricket, Angus Fraser accepted, on behalf of Adam, a magnum of Brooks Macdonald champagne and a cheque for £1000 from Simon Wombwell of Brooks Macdonald.
