London rivals Middlesex and Surrey went head to head in the Royal London One-Day Cup on a wet day at Lord's Cricket Ground, in a clash that was weather reduced to just 16 overs per side with a quarter final place up for grabs for the winners. Surrey prevailed, after hosts Middlesex could only hit 101 for 8, with John Simpson top scoring with 29. In reply Surrey recovered from 35 for 4 to get over the line, five wickets down, with 4 balls to spare, with man of the match Ben Foakes top scoring with a crucial 45.

Skipper James Franklin rues missed chances on the night and across the group stage as Middlesex miss out on a quarter-final in the Royal London One Day Cup after a five-wicket defeat by Surrey.
