With Middlesex winning the toss and electing to bat at the Kia Oval against Surrey in the Specsavers County Championship, Middlesex's top four dominated early proceedings, with Robson, Gubbins & Malan each making half centuries and Adam Voges 47. With Middlesex in the ascendancy on 257 for 3, Surrey then fought back in the evening session, as the visitors finished on 298 for 7 at stumps.
