DAY ONE WATCH & LISTEN - Nottinghamshire v Middlesex, SCC

over 7 years ago|Uncategorised

Action from day one of Middlesex's Specsavers County Championship clash with Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge. Exercising his right to negate any toss, Middlesex Captain James Franklin chose to bowl first and put Nottinghamshire into bat. Three wickets in the morning session, followed by three in the afternoon session saw Middlesex with their noses in front at tea, and four wickets in the evening session wrapped up the hosts' innings for 241. Steven Finn, returning from England was the pick of the Middlesex bowlers with four for 54. It was Middlesex's day thus far as they began their first innings with just seven overs play remaining in the day. A devastating over from England's Jake Ball, in which he claimed a hat-trick with the wickets of Sam Robson, night-watchman Ollie Rayner and Nick Compton, saw Nottinghamshire wrestle the initiative back as Middlesex closed the opening day on 9 for 3, with Nick Gubbins and Dawid Malan at the crease.

Steven Finn reflects on the opening day at Trent Bridge, as his 4 for 54 helped Middlesex dismiss hosts Nottinghamshire for just 241 in their first innings, before Jake Ball's opening over shifted the momentum in Nottinghamshire's favour.
