NICK COMPTON AWARDED TESTIMONIAL YEAR IN 2018

over 6 years ago | Uncategorised

Middlesex Cricket is delighted to announce that Nick Compton has been awarded a Testimonial Year in 2018.

Nick made his first-class debut for Middlesex in May 2004 and has since gone on to make almost 200 appearances for the club in all three formats, scoring almost 7,000 runs, including thirteen hundreds- twelve scored in the first-class game.

Much like his grandfather and Middlesex legend, the great Denis Compton, Nick was named as one of Wisden's Cricketers of the Year in 2013 and won the PCA Player of the Year Award in 2012.

Nick has sixteen England Test caps and two Test hundreds to his name, having made his debut for England in 2012 against India.

Nick Compton commented:

"I would really like to thank everyone and pay tribute to those who have contributed and supported my journey. Middlesex Cricket have provided me with a home and the great foundations that have enabled me to reach my dream of winning the county championship and playing for England.

"The legacy of my grandfather here at Lord's makes me extremely proud and I would like to pay tribute to him on his 100th year next year for providing me with the inspiration and the opportunity to follow in his footsteps. I've been incredibly fortunate to have experienced some of the things he did.

"My thanks go to Middlesex and the club's members, my team mates and supporters for their help over the years and I'm really looking forward to an enjoyable Testimonial Year in 2018."

Middlesex Cricket's Chief Executive, Richard Goatley said:

"I'm really delighted that Nick has been awarded a testimonial for 2018 and it is obviously very special for us that it is to the grandson of, perhaps, our greatest player.

"In two spells at the club, he has proven what a quality player he is and he is fully deserving of this accolade. I am sure that all supporters of Middlesex will be fully behind making Nick's Testimonial as successful as possible."

Further information on Nick's Testimonial Year will be available early in the New Year.
