FINN AND ROLAND-JONES ADDED TO ENGLAND SQUAD FOR ODI VS SOUTH AFRICA AT LORD'S

over 6 years ago | Uncategorised

Middlesex are delighted to announce that both Steven Finn and Toby Roland-Jones have been added to the England squad for the third and final One Day International against South Africa, taking place at Lord’s tomorrow. They are joined by Hampshire’s Liam Dawson, who is also added to the squad.

The Middlesex pace duo and Hampshire spinner are added as replacements for Moeen Ali (groin), Ben Stokes (knee) and Chris Woakes (thigh), who all sit out of tomorrow’s international through injury.

Finn, who already has 68 ODI caps to his name for England, last appeared for England earlier this year in March, in Bridgetown in the third ODI against the West Indies, and he’ll be looking to build on the 102 ODI wickets he already has to his name for his country.

Finn commented on his call-up…

“I am happy to have been called up the squad for the final ODI. Hopefully I can help the lads carry momentum into the Champions Trophy by helping to get a win at Lord’s tomorrow.”

Roland-Jones, will be making his full England debut if selected in the starting eleven tomorrow, after performing well for the England Lions over the winter against both the UAE and Sri Lanka A.

With 112 List-A wickets already to his name for his county, and as Middlesex’s leading wicket-taker in List-A cricket last season and again this term, Roland-Jones has been in terrific form with the white ball of late, and will be hoping to get his chance to continue to do so with England at the Home of Cricket tomorrow.

Speaking of his call-up, Roland-Jones said…

“It’s a special moment to be called in to represent your country, and to be at Lord’s, in front of a packed house, on debut is as exciting as it gets.”

England lead the three-match series 2-0, after wins at Headingley and the Ageas Bowl, and tomorrow they’ll be looking to secure a series whitewash ahead of their forthcoming Champions Trophy campaign.
