National Cricket Week

Letter to Schools about National Cricket Week

The Yorkshire Tea National Cricket week dates have been announced with activities taking place between the 20th and 24th June 2016. The National Cricket week which is run by Chance to Shine encourages schools to undertake cricket related activities during the week, to raise the profile of the sport. There are a number of different activities schools can undertake to really celebrate cricket, and the level of involvement is entirely down to you. For instance some schools hold whole schools tournaments, whereas others have single classes making cricket themed posters, or writing cricket themed stories, it is up to you to do whatever works best within your school.

Please see below some ideas for National Cricket Week:

  • Whole School Intra Cricket Tournament
  • Staff Vs Pupils Kwik Cricket Match
  • Cricket themed lessons in individual classes found here:  http://www.criced.org/
  • Cricket themed assembly (maybe representing a test playing nation)  Spirit of Cricket Assembly Video can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEOisHw74Qw
  • Making cricket posters in class
  • Surrey County Cricket School Writing Competition
  • Cricket Quiz: Found Here: http://www.criced.org/
