DISABILITY SECOND ELEVEN CONTINUE WINNING START TO 2024

The Middlesex Disability D40 Second Eleven continued their winning start to the 2024 season following a 96-run victory on Sunday over Essex at Harlow Town CC.

Captain Sue Benson won the toss and elected to bat, and despite the early wicket of Mozzam Rashid (4) falling, Middlesex’s top order made a solid start, with wicketkeeper-batsman Naseer Butt making 34, including seven boundaries, and Joe Batten making 19.

Craig Fowler was the standout batter for Middlesex knocking a superb half-century including 10 fours off 68 balls. Runs continued to flow within the middle-order with Sue Benson (22) and Chloe Sainsbury (20*) making solid contributions.

Middlesex finished their 40 overs on a superb 194/9.

The Middlesex bowlers applied pressure, allowing few runs to be scored. Moazzam Rashid (3/21) and Chloe Sainsbury (3/5) swiftly removed the opening pair. Quick work was made of the middle-order as Sainsbury picked up two more with Jai Charan (1/14) and Sunil Sugar (2/13) also making contributions.

Despite a late flurry of runs, the hosts were eventually dismissed for 94 after 39 overs, with Moazzam Rashid picking up the final wicket. A dominant performance with both bat and ball for Middlesex.
