Our thanks go to all members who joined us recently at the Club’s End of Season forum at Lord’s, when we had the opportunity to review the season and discuss a number of matters of interest to the membership.
Understandably, the ECB’s High Performance Review was a topic raised and discussed, and it was pleasing to hear that the Club’s views and those of the members are aligned, in that we are collectively opposed to any reduction in the volume of County Championship cricket played in the domestic schedule.
It has been confirmed that for the 2023 season, the domestic structure will remain largely the same, with the same number of county fixtures being played at broadly the same times of the season. We are expecting that a fixture schedule will be confirmed and available for publication in late November/early December - pleasingly two months earlier than last season. We will of course notify members of next season's fixture schedule as soon as it is available, and we look forward to seeing how next season shapes up following our return to Division One of the County Championship.
Beyond next season, consultation around the domestic structure between the ECB and First-Class counties is ongoing, and the situation continues to evolve, so we will ensure we keep members up to date with any developments, however given the alignment in the Club’s and members’ views on the schedule, we have taken the decision to not send out an online survey at this stage.
Your views are of the utmost importance to us, and as the situation becomes clearer, and as things progress, if we feel that a members' survey would be of benefit, we will advise members of this accordingly.
