Ian Lovett has decided to step down from his position as Chairman of Middlesex County Cricket Club at the end of the year.
Ian has presided over a successful regeneration of the club’s fortunes culminating in the club being runners-up in the LV= County Championship in 2015 - its best finish in 20 years.
He will be replaced as Chairman by current Treasurer Mike O’Farrell, who will assume the Chairmanship on 1 January 2016.
Ian commented...
“It has been a huge honour to Chair our marvellous club, but, after nine seasons, and with my continuing role as Deputy Chairman of the ECB, I am sure that now is the right time to hand over the reins for others to take us through the next stage of our development.
“We are in excellent health on the field with a youth structure that is the envy of many, and off it with growing membership numbers and financial stability.
“I would like to thank all the Directors, staff and players during my time as Chairman for their splendid support. Above all, though, my thanks go to all of our wonderful members, without whom we could do nothing.
“My passion for Middlesex will remain undiminished and I wish Mike O'Farrell, Richard Goatley and everyone else involved with the club a highly successful future. I will be at Lord's as often as I possibly can to watch it unfold.”

“Ian has been a quite magnificent Chairman and he leaves with our great thanks for his incredible energy and efforts on behalf of the club. During Ian’s tenure, the club has been overhauled from top to bottom and the results of many years of hard work are now being seen on the field.
“It is a great honour to have been asked by the Board to assume the Chairmanship and I am delighted to take on the challenge of leading the club to success. I hope that I can do justice to the legacy Ian leaves, but I take comfort from the fact that the building blocks are firmly in place and that Middlesex Cricket will continue to benefit from his input as will I.”
Mike has been Treasurer at Middlesex since 2010 and is the Chairman of the Seaxe Club. He had a successful business career as a board director of Kodak and latterly as Chief Executive of the British Acupuncture Council. As a youth he was a fine left-arm spinner who played for Stanmore CC and represented Middlesex at youth level. He is currently a board member of the National Motor Museum.
Mike’s role as Treasurer will be taken by current Board member David Kendix.
