Middlesex CCC statement following ECB meeting yesterday

The Chairman and CEO of Middlesex CCC attended a meeting at Lord's yesterday with the ECB, the other seventeen counties, the MCC and the PCA.

At this meeting, the ECB revealed that, as a result of their consultation process, their recommended option for domestic cricket was to create a second Domestic T20 competition. It was agreed by a majority of the counties that the ECB be tasked with providing significantly more detail about the structure of the tournament to enable counties to consult with their stakeholders.

Middlesex CCC Chairman Mike O'Farrell said...

“We made it very clear to the ECB that we could not consider voting for such a dramatic change to the domestic cricket landscape without first consulting our members.

“Currently, we do not believe that there is enough detail on the proposal for us to give a considered opinion so the ECB have been tasked with providing that, so we can consult widely and informatively with our membership.

"I will be discussing this further with our Executive Board over the next week.”
