MATCH ONE RESULT – MIDDLESEX WIN BY 1 RUN
Due to a wet outfield from rain overnight, the match start time was delayed long enough for the first match of the day to be reduced to 15 overs per side. Once the match finally got underway, Middlesex won the toss and chose to bat first.
Lincoln and Lace both were both dismissed cheaply, leaving Middlesex on 15-2 early on. However, Middlesex’s innings was dominated by Robbie White from here on out.
Whilst no other batsman was able to score more the 12, White was able to put Club Cricket Conference to the sword for the majority of the 15 overs, scoring at almost 2.5 runs per ball.
White was able to celebrate a superb century before finally being ran out for 108, contributing hugely to Middlesex’s impressive total of 168/8 from just 15 overs.
Club Cricket Conference went about chasing down the runs in the right way, scoring consistently at around 10 an over.
However, wickets fell at crucial times and ensured no single partnership particularly flourished- thanks to George Scott (3-32), Martin (1-17) & Walallawita (1-24).
With two balls left the visitors required just 3 runs to secure victory, but brilliant bowling at the death from Scott saw two wickets fall, and Club Cricket Conference fell short in spectacular fashion.
MATCH TWO RESULT – MIDDLESEX WIN BY 9 WICKETS
The second toss of the day went the way of the visitors, who also decided to bat first in a full 20 over match.
Their opening partnership was an impressive one, putting on 76 in just 6.3 overs before the loss of the first wicket.
This set the tone for the innings, as the second partnership of the day lasted another 56 runs, taking the visitors to only the 11th over.
At this point, a score far beyond 200 seemed the reasonable target for Club Cricket Conference, however wickets began to fall with more regularity in the final overs.
This reduced the run rate somewhat, and they were only able to set a total of 200 for 7 from their 20 overs, which seemed possibly below par considering the start they had.
Middlesex needed only 13.3 overs to chase down this total, due to a sensational batting performance from the hosts.
Lincoln shone brightest, who batted the entire Middlesex innings and scored an incredible 121 runs from just 40 deliveries. On his way to this total, he managed ten 4’s and eleven 6’s.
He was duly aided by both Holden and Lace, who each scored 39 runs at a strike rate of around 200.
