Middlesex County Cricket Club and their principal sponsor Brooks Macdonald have named 25 year old seamer, James Harris, as their player of the Month for May 2015.
An exceptional month with the ball, in which Harris achieved career best first-class figures against Durham, saw Middlesex maintain the unbeaten start to their LV= County Championship campaign and further cement their position at the top of the Division One table.
Harris, who is currently the country’s second highest wicket taker in Division One of the LV= County Championship, with 37 wickets already to his name, built on an outstanding start to the year with Middlesex, by picking up thirteen wickets in one phenomenal match against Durham in May at Lord’s. This included those career best figures of 9 for 34, taken in Durham’s second innings, as the visitors were bowled out for just 71, to earn Middlesex a crucial victory in the most unlikely of circumstances.
Throughout May Harris picked up a total of nineteen wickets in the LV= County Championship at a miserly average of just 19, plus with the white ball he grabbed a further three wickets in the NatWest T20 Blast in an impressive victory against Sussex at Hove.
On receiving the Brooks Macdonald Player of the Month for May 2015, James Harris commented...
“I’m really happy with the way I’m bowling at the moment. It’s a huge improvement on the last couple of years which have been tough for me, and after a lot of hard work through the winter I’m really thrilled. To run in towards the pavilion at Lord’s and take a load of wickets against Durham was a really special moment for me.”
James Harris receives a magnum of champagne and a cheque for £1000 from the club’s principal sponsors, Brooks Macdonald.
