Middlesex County Cricket Club are today delighted to announce that Paul Stirling, the powerful, hard-hitting Belfast born, right handed top order batsman, has signed a one year contract extension with the club, which will see him remain at Middlesex until at least the end of the 2016 season.
Stirling, 24, has earned himself a reputation as one of the most destructive batsman in the domestic white ball game, who this year has found some devastating early season form for Middlesex in the NatWest T20 Blast, smashing knocks of 39, 90 and 88 at a strike rate of 179 and an average of 72.33.
Since making his debut for Middlesex in April 2010, Stirling has made almost eighty appearances for the club in white ball cricket, hitting 1,197 runs in 38 List-A games at an average of just under 39 and 949 runs in 39 T20 matches at almost 26.
In red ball cricket Stirling has made 10 first-class appearances for the club, hitting almost 500 runs at an average of just under 32.
Stirling’s occasional off-spin has also proved a useful weapon for Middlesex in all three forms of the game, yielding him 7 first-class wickets, 15 List-A wickets and 7 T20 wickets.
Having secured the services of Stirling for an additional year, Middlesex’s Managing Director of Cricket, Angus Fraser commented....
