ESSEX WON BY 4 WICKETS: MIDDLESEX 176 & ESSEX 179-6
After the Lord Mayor's Show that was the 2s away game against Gloucestershire, today’s loss at Uxbridge was particularly hard to stomach.
Our batters were perhaps guilty of over analysing a green looking track and overcast skies and as a result played far too cautiously after being put in by the visitors. Wickets fell steadily with just Cameron Steel and Robbie White looking like they had got a grip of conditions.
During the break between innings the sky blued and the Essex men applied themselves to the task with gusto (and a high proportion of cover and straight drives), chasing down the Middlesex total with more than half their allocated overs left.
