STUMPS DAY 2: SUSSEX 177 & 204-8*; MIDDLESEX 328
After a strong Middlesex performance with the bat on a tricky pitch, the highlight of which was Cameron Steel’s 104, the visitors found themselves chasing 151 to avoid an innings defeat.
All was going well with our bowlers making inroads nicely until Ashar Zaidi came to the crease with a bat and a stiff knee. Beware the injured batter. Zaidi plundered 76 off 59 balls and was still there at close of play, with the Sussex side 50 odd ahead.
Perhaps this is just delaying the inevitable, though the Middlesex lads need to apply themselves a little better in the morning to secure a good victory.
