Middlesex County Cricket Club are today delighted to announce the signing of Australian Women’s cricketer Julie Hunter, who is set to make her debut for Middlesex Women this weekend against Sussex at the County Ground, Hove. Hunter will be available for all but one of Middlesex’s remaining fixtures this season, before she returns home to Australia in early September.
Melbourne born Hunter, 31, who plays for her state side of Victoria, is a right arm quick bowler and right handed batter who has a wealth of experience on the international stage, having represented Australia Women on more than fifty occasions in both One Day International and International T20 formats over a five year spell.
For Australia, Hunter has 24 ODI wickets to her name at an average of only 24.87 and an economy rate of just 3.68, plus 33 wickets at an average of just 18.33 in the thirty two International Twenty20’s she has played.
Speaking of the addition of Julie Hunter to the Middlesex Women’s side, Middlesex CCC Women’s Player/Coach, Beth Morgan, commented
“It is fantastic that Middlesex have been able to secure a player of Julie’s calibre and experience. Julie is a proven performer at the highest level and all of the Middlesex girls are looking forward to playing alongside her for the remaining matches this summer”
