Middlesex and England management have agreed that Eoin Morgan will be rested from the next three Royal London One-Day Cup matches and the LV= County Championship game against Sussex.
Eoin has had a heavy workload over the last ten months and a short break now will ensure he is ready for the T20 and ODI series against Australia as well as the climax to the domestic season.
James Franklin will take over as captain for the three Royal London One-Day Cup matches and continue in charge of the Club’s LV= County Championship side.
Commenting on Morgan’s absence Middlesex County Cricket Club’s Managing Director of Cricket, Angus Fraser, said...
“Eoin has been on the go since October 2014 and is in need of a rest. He has been working his socks off away from matches trying to find the form he wants and it has so far not brought the results he is looking for.
“We believe a week or two away from cricket will allow him to recharge and to play the cricket he wants for the remainder of the season.”
