Middlesex County Cricket Club can today confirm that both Nathan Sowter and Martin Andersson have signed contracts with the club.
Leg spinner Sowter, 23, burst onto the scene last summer at Lord’s in the NatWest T20 Blast against Kent, when in just four deliveries he claimed figures of two for two in a thrilling Middlesex debut.
He went on to make five T20 appearances for Middlesex last summer, and has signed a white ball summer contract in 2016 which will see him available for all of Middlesex’s NatWest T20 Blast and Royal London One-Day Cup matches.
Middlesex’s Managing Director of Cricket, Angus Fraser, said…
“Nathan was given a taste of the NatWest T20 Blast in 2015 and showed glimpses of what he has to offer before suffering an injury. He produced many good performances in the 2nd XI, displays that helped them have a successful season.
“In limited-overs cricket captains want options and Nathan's leg-spin will complement the orthodox right and left-arm spin of Ollie Rayner and Ravi Patel. His contract with us is for limited overs cricket but he is available to play the longer form if required.”
All-rounder Andersson, 19, a graduate of the Middlesex Academy in Finchley and a member of the England Under 19s Development Squad has signed a three-year summer contract, which will allow him to continue his cricket development around his University studies.
On Andersson, Fraser commented…
“Martin is another talented cricketer from our Academy. He is currently studying at Leeds University and the contract will work around his educational and University commitments. All-rounders are hard to come by and in Martin and George Scott, who will also play for Leeds/Bradford MCCU, we have two exciting young players of this type."
