STUMPS DAY 3: NOTTINGHAMSHIRE 354; MIDDLESEX 203-3
There was frustration for Middlesex and Nottinghamshire after the third day’s play in their Specsavers County Championship match at Lord’s was lost to rain.
The groundstaff began removing the covers at 2.30pm after morning rain but just as umpires Rob Bailey and Billy Taylor were inspecting an hour later it started to rain again. Play was eventually abandoned for the day at 4.10pm.
Middlesex will resume tomorrow on 203 for 3 in reply to Nottinghamshire’s 354 with Sam Robson unbeaten on 114 and John Simpson 66. So far the fourth-wicket pair have added 154 but the final day looks destined to be a battle for bonus points with little prospect of a positive result.
