Middlesex County Cricket Club is delighted to announce that both Richard Sykes and Eddie Villiers have been co-opted onto the Club’s Executive Board with immediate effect.
Richard joins as an elected Board member filling the vacancy left by David Kendix when he assumed the role of Treasurer and Richard’s term of office expires at the 2017 AGM when he then has the opportunity of choosing to offer himself for re-election.
Eddie becomes our first non-voting three-year fixed term Board member (the constitution allows for two such positions).
Richard has lived, played and watched cricket in Middlesex since his university days and is shortly to retire from PwC where he currently is a senior partner with responsibility for their Governance, Risk and Compliance offering. He is President and an active playing member of Hampstead and Westminster Hockey Club as well as being a non-executive Director for England Hockey. He also led the ICC governance review of world cricket with Lord Woolf.
Eddie Villiers is employed by Rabobank and is their Global Managing Director, Head of Markets London and Global Head of Financial Institution Sales. He is also a non-executive Director of two companies in the Middle East. Eddie, a Middlesex member, born and raised in St John’s Wood has been a regular at Lords since childhood. He is now Chairman of Primrose Hill Cricket Club and played a leading role in the formation of this club just ten years ago which today boosts a thriving colts section and over 350 members. He is an ECB Level I Coach and uses these skills to coach the under-8s and under-9s at Primrose Hill.

"The Board felt that this was an appropriate time to further enhance the wide range of experiences current within the Board membership, particularly in view of the challenges and opportunities that cricket, in all forms of the games, will face over the next three to five years. Richard and Eddie, with their governance and commercial skills will do much to help Middlesex meet these challenges and reinforce the Club’s continued progress and development on and off the field. I am very pleased that they have agreed to join us."
