Celebrating 40 years of the Lord’s Taverners minibuses
Since 1976 the Lord’s Taverners has provided specially-adapted transport for schools catering for young people with learning and physical disabilities and 2016 marks the 40th anniversary of this national programme.
The charity has now provided over 1,110 accessible minibuses for schools across the UK and to celebrate the 40th anniversary, the charity will be presenting a record 40 minibuses in 2016.
A Lord’s Taverners minibus will be present at the Middlesex vs Surrey T20 Blast game at Lord’s on Thursday 21st July so why not stop by and meet some of the Taverners team and learn more about how these buses are a lifeline to schools and community groups across the country.
The bus will be parked near the The Grace Gates, so please stop by. Our iconic green minibuses enable schools to engage their pupils in sporting and recreational activities and help them develop vital life skills, such as visiting the shops and interacting with people in their local community.
The Lord’s Taverners is the UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity dedicated to giving young people a sporting chance.
Our mission is to enhance the lives of disadvantaged and disabled young people through sport and recreation and creating opportunities for them to engage in sport and recreation activities.
