Having confirmed their qualification for the knockout stages of the NatWest T20 Blast last night, courtesy of a 43 run victory against Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl, Middlesex turn their attention to trying to do the same in the fifty over format, when they take on Kent in the Royal London One-Day Cup at Lord's.
Both Middlesex and Kent head into the clash with four points to their names, with an identical record of two wins and two losses from the four games they've played. With only the top four sides qualifying for the quarter finals places in both the South and North Groups, Middlesex will be looking to take their impressive twenty over form, which has seen them win three consecutive games, into the longer white ball format, to bag themselves a knockout spot.
Whilst Dawid Malan and Roland-Jones are absent again, on Tri-series duties with the England Lions, Middlesex are able to include Steven Finn within their bowling ranks, and he'll be looking to make an impression at Lord's in what will be his first fifty over game for Middlesex in two years.
The Seaxes' batting ranks include England's Eoin Morgan, the in-form Australian overseas batsman George Bailey, who has been in blistering form of late in the T20 Blast, and John Simpson, who is in the form of his life right now and has played a vital role in Middlesex's recent success in both other forms of the game.
With only four group games remaining, Middlesex's securing a win tomorrow at Lord's will take them that much closer to the quarter finals and keep them in the hunt for honours in all three competitions.
Middlesex name the following fourteen man squad for tomorrow's game...
James Franklin (captain)
George Bailey
Steven Finn
James Fuller
Nick Gubbins
James Harris
Ryan Higgins
Eoin Morgan
Tim Murtagh
Ollie Rayner
Sam Robson
John Simpson
Nathan Sowter
Paul Stirling
