Middlesex Women vs Berkshire (T20)
Finally some sunshine! Having lost the toss we bowled first and made a great start reducing Berkshire to 22 for 3. This was due to Ravel removing New Zealander Priest to a fantastic catch by Bouchier. Huddlestone picked up the other 2 with very skillful slower balls. In our last T20 I thought we lacked energy in the field, we spoke about this before today's game and I couldn't fault the team. The wickets were shared across the group, Hartley 2, Dattani 2, Westbury 1. I thought we were brilliant in executing our plans and we bowled with control forcing Berkshire to take risks in order to score. Berkshire scored 92-8 in their 20 which if we played to our potential we knew we would achieve our goal.
Our reply was not ideal as we were reduced to 22-2 within 5 overs. A quick fire 27 from Wilson steadied us, with Fran playing with aggression to take the game away from Berkshire. I believe she is one of the best batters in the country. She was well supported by Morgan who shows why she has had a long and successful international career with 21 not out. We lost Wilson with the score on 69, this allowed Bouchier one of a long list of our talented young players to come in and play a cameo scoring 21*. We won in 14 overs by 7 wickets a very satisfying day.
Well played ladies!
