Warwickshire and Middlesex took an early tea at 3.10pm as rain continued to thwart the latter's victory push at Edgbaston. With Warwickshire set to resume on 74 for three, in pursuit of 338, rain washed out the first two sessions. At last it stopped at half-past two, though, and as the groundstaff got busy drying the ground, Middlesex remained hopeful that they would get out there for 40 overs after tea to try to take the seven wickets they need for a win which could be priceless to their title ambitions.

Middlesex's Specsavers County Championship title bid was hit by heavy rain in Birmingham this morning which prevented any play before lunch on the final day of their game against Warwickshire. Warwickshire were due to resume on 74 for three, in pursuit of a difficult target of 338 on a turning pitch, but steady rain set in just before the scheduled start and forced an early lunch at 12.30pm. With standing water on several areas of the field and further rain falling, Middlesex need the weather to brighten quickly if they are to have any chance to press home their dominant position.
