Match action from the final day of Middlesex's County Championship clash with Lancashire at Old Trafford, where both sides settled for a draw on the fourth day. Middlesex, resuming on their overnight score of 72 for 4, needed to bat themselves to safety first and foremost, and proceeded to do just that, before declaring on 240 for 8, leaving Lancashire 309 to secure victory in 44 overs. Initially Lancashire set off in pursuit of their target, although when the wicket of Jos Buttler fell, they soon closed ranks and batted out the remaining overs to earn the draw.
