Resuming their second innings on 24 for 0 Nottinghamshire made a solid start, but then collapsed from 106 for 1 to 240 all out in their second innings with Middlesex's Ollie Rayner picking up another four wickets and Steven Finn three, as the visitors did what they needed to do with the ball. Set 235 to win, Middlesex were again on the wrong end of a blistering spell by Jake Ball, who picked up three early wickets to see Middlesex close day three on 48 for 3, needing a further 187 runs to secure victory. Nottinghamshire will be desperate to pick up the seven wickets they need to fend off certain relegation.
