The visitors took the advantage on day two as hosts Warwickshire were bowled out for just 172 in their first innings, thanks largely to a haul of 5 for 49 from off-spinner Ollie Rayner. Middlesex then built a commanding lead by finishing the day on 63 without loss to go into day three 133 runs ahead with all ten second innings wicket still standing.
