McCullum and Malan to captain Middlesex in this year’s NatWest T20 Blast campaign
At yesterday’s pre-season media day at Lord’s Middlesex Cricket announced that this season’s NatWest T20 Blast captaincy will be split between Brendon McCullum and Dawid Malan.
McCullum will captain Middlesex for the initial nine group matches of the tournament and Malan will lead the club in the final five group games and hopefully in the quarter final, semi-final and final stages of the competition.
Middlesex Cricket’s Managing Director of Cricket, Angus Fraser commented…
“Whilst the 2017 schedule offers a block of T20 cricket from early July through to the middle of August, there is not a great deal of time prior to the tournament to prepare specifically for T20 cricket.
“During discussions with Daniel Vettori, it was felt that the best way of the club achieving a quick start to the competition was to make the most of a long-standing relationship that Dan has built up with Brendon over many years both as a player and coach.
“Dawid will work very closely with Dan and Brendon and I’m sure will benefit from those experiences.
“These three will guide Middlesex through this year’s NatWest T20 Blast campaign”.
