Chiswick Cricket Club opens as new home of Middlesex Disability Cricket

Sunday 30th April 2017 was a hugely important day for all involved in Disability Cricket within Middlesex.

After a winter of extensive work and modification to the pavilion and dressing room complex, the doors to Chiswick Cricket Club were finally opened as the new home of Middlesex Disability Cricket on Sunday, as Middlesex’s D40 side took on London rivals Surrey in their opening D40 hardball clash of the season.

Whilst the grand opening of Chiswick Cricket Club was a significant milestone event in itself, the Middlesex team were also able to take to the field in brand new Nike playing shirts, proudly adorned by the logo of the Middlesex Disability side’s new sponsor, Fentimans, who have come on board over the winter in support of the side.

Pete Garraway, London Controller of Fentimans, who produce an extensive range of botanically brewed beverages, was present at Chiswick on Sunday for the side’s opening league fixture and commented…

We are incredibly proud to sponsor the Middlesex Disability Cricket team. We wanted to make a real difference and bring attention to an under-represented sector of the sporting community. We are delighted to be working with such a great group of management and players who clearly have such a passion for the game of cricket.

“Our relationship with the team is extremely important to us, and we hope it is one we can continue in the years to come.

Pete Jones, Head of Community Outreach for Middlesex Cricket added…

“To have a ground that we can call our permanent home is a significant step forward for Middlesex Disability Cricket and I would like to pass on our thanks to everyone at Chiswick Cricket Club for their support and commitment in making this project a reality.

“To be able to play every home game at the same ground gives a real sense of belonging, and we’re looking forward to enjoying plenty of success here at Chiswick.

“I would also like to pass on my thanks to everyone at Fentimans for their support in becoming our sponsor. We have a healthy blend of experience and youth within the side and with Fentimans support behind us, we can now ensure that the cricketers receive the support they need.”

Whilst the day itself was cause for plenty of celebration, Middlesex disappointingly came out on the wrong side of the result, as Surrey ran out winners by 25 runs.
