NIGHT OF FESTIVALS HOUNSLOW 2017 SET TO BE BOWLED OVER BY MIDDLESEX CRICKET
Sat 10th – Sun 11th June 2017
Middlesex Cricket is delighted to announce that we have joined forces with ArtReach, and will be involved in this year's hugely popular Hounslow Night of Festivals, now in its third year.
Produced by Leicester based ArtReach and in partnership with reigning county champions Middlesex Cricket, the spectacular Night of Festivals returns to Hounslow High Street for a vibrant weekend of carnival, world music, entertainment and sport with Middlesex Cricket from 10 to 11 June. The 2017 programme showcases local and international artists as part of a South Asian inspired programme which celebrates the 70th Anniversary of Indian and Pakistan Independence as well as one of the most popular sports in Britain and South Asia - cricket!
Celebrating values of freedom through artistic innovation, Night of Festivals is a free event that will animate Hounslow High Street with colourful carnival activity, showcasing the talents of local participants from community groups and schools. Harminder (the pedal powered, life size baby elephant) and extraordinary South Asian inspired costumes by Mandinga Arts will bring a carnival atmosphere to the town alongside exciting performers on the world music stage (full details to be announced shortly).
David Hill, Director of ArtReach said
“It’s fantastic to be bringing back Night of Festivals for a third consecutive year in Hounslow, with lots of new artists and spectacular new carnival costumes. We are particularly pleased to be building our relationships with community groups through Age UK, Feltham Arts, Highfields Estate and Speak Out, developing from work with these groups over past Festivals. ”
2017 sees a new partnership between ArtReach, through Night of Festivals Hounslow, and Middlesex County Cricket Club, county champions of 2016. 1st Team representatives will attend the Night of Festivals events to host cricket activities and workshops encouraging the local community to enjoy and participate in the most popular sport common to Britain and the South Asian subcontinent.
Richard Goatley, Chief Executive of Middlesex Cricket said
“We are delighted to be in partnership with ArtReach on this exciting project and are really looking forward to being involved in what promises to be a terrific event. Engaging with community groups across Middlesex is hugely important to us, and we believe this festival weekend will perfectly complement the cricket projects we are already running in the borough.”
Night of Festivals Hounslow is being delivered with support from Inspire Hounslow, Arts Council England and Awards for All, with valuable partnerships in place with Feltham Arts, London Contemporary Theatre, Hounslow Borough Council and Cultural Community Solutions.
