Middlesex Second Eleven have named a strong thirteen-man squad for the Second Eleven Trophy Final at Headingley, where they’ll face Yorkshire later today in a floodlit match starting at 2pm.
Middlesex qualified for the final by beating defending Champions Lancashire at Blackpool last week, so confidence will be high heading into the final against their rivals Yorkshire, who overcame Somerset in their semi-final.
The Middlesex top order is boosted by the inclusion of Nick Compton in the squad, who played in four earlier group matches in the competition. Compton drops out of the County Championship side, who travel to Southport today to face Lancashire, and strengthens an already strong Second Eleven batting line up available for the Final.
Recently signed on professional terms, Tom Barber, is included in the seam attack, fresh from having taken a four-wicket haul in Middlesex’s latest Second Eleven Trophy clash with Somerset at Radlett, and he lines up alongside Podmore, Higgins, Scott, Godsal and Sowter, in a bowling attack that wouldn’t look out of place on any first eleven scorecard.
