During the interval of last night's NatWest T20 Blast London derby clash against Surrey at Lord's, Middlesex President, John Emburey, and Mike Divers, Senior Investment Director of Brooks Macdonald, Middlesex Cricket's Principal Sponsor, presented the Brooks Macdonald Player of the Month award for June 2017 to Paul Stirling.
The monthly award, judged by the club's cricket management group earns the winning player a cheque for £1,000 and a magnum of Brooks Macdonald champagne, which were presented to all-rounder Stirling last night in front of a sold-out crowd at the Home of Cricket, on the pitch in front of the Lord's Pavilion.
Stirling earned the Player of the Month accolade having performed consistently well for Middlesex in all four of the club's Division One Specsavers County Championship encounters throughout June.
Stirling's month started with a half-century against Somerset at Lord's, when he hit a crucial 52 in Middlesex's first innings total of 358, helping the side to a draw in the rain affected clash. He followed this up with a solid 49 at Southport, as Middlesex disappointingly went down to their first defeat of the season against Lancashire. He then hit his maiden first-class hundred for Middlesex, 111, in the comprehensive innings victory against Yorkshire, before finishing the month with two further half centuries against Essex at Chelmsford, smashing 77 off just 50 balls in the first innings, and then 55 in the second.
In total Stirling hit 356 first-class runs in six innings throughout June at an average of 59.33.
Congratulations to Paul Stirling on being named as the recipient of the June 2017 Middlesex Cricket Brooks Macdonald Player of the month.
