Over 400 people were in attendance yesterday at the Middlesex Cricket End of Season Lunch and annual Players' Awards event in the Nursery Pavilion at Lord's.
Sky Sports News presenter, Dave Fulton, hosted the glittering event, which also saw former Middlesex favourite, Strictly star and 'King of the Jungle', Phillip Tufnell join Angus Fraser and John Emburey on stage for an hilarious look back on the days when the trio used to share a dressing room together and work their magic out on the Lord's hallowed turf.
After an outstanding three course lunch laid on by the MCC catering team, washed down with some fabulous wines provided by the club's official wine partner Seckford Agencies, the annual Players' Awards were handed out, in acknowledgement of some outstanding individual efforts across the season.
Steven Finn picked up the first award of the day, the September Brooks Macdonald Player of the Month Award, after an outstanding month with the ball in the County Championship. Next up on stage was Stephen Eskinazi, who was deservedly named as the recipient of the Geoff Norris Batting Performance of the Year Award for his brilliant 179 against Warwickshire in July, before Steven Finn collected his second award of the day, the John Bugden Memorial Bowling Award, for his match winning figures of 8 for 71 against Lancashire at Lord's in September.
Gayatri Gole and Joe Cracknell were both then respectively named as the Women's Youth Player of the Year and the Youth Player of the Year after performing admirably throughout the season, before Tom Helm was announced as the Emerging Player of the Year after an outstanding year with the ball in all three competition formats.
Tom Helm remained on stage, to pick up his second award of the day, the Players' Player of the Year Award, nominated for by his fellow teammates in the Lord's dressing room, before Matthew Jones was the named as Middlesex Cricket's Disability Player of the Year, for the second year in a row, after continuing to perform brilliantly as the club's disability captain.
Sophia Dunkley then picked up the Women's Player of the Year Award, before the awards ceremony was brought to a close with Steven Finn picking up his third award of the day, when he was unveiled as the club's Player of the Year.
Middlesex Cricket would like to thank its members, supporters, sponsors and partners for their support this year, and for joining us at Lord's yesterday to bring the curtain down on the season.
