Middlesex cricket can today announce that Tom Lace will be joining Derbyshire on loan until the end of the season.
Lace, who has made six red-ball appearances in the Second Eleven Championship this term, has hit 322 runs at an average of 32.30 with a highest score of 94 against Glamorgan last month.
Lace, 20, who has yet to break into the Middlesex first eleven, will gain invaluable experience at Derbyshire, who are looking for top order cover for the injured Luis Reece.
Lace will join up with the Derbyshire squad ahead of this week’s Specsavers County Championship Division Two clash with Kent, starting on Wednesday at the 3aaa County Ground.
Angus Fraser, Middlesex Cricket’s Managing Director of Cricket commented:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for Tom and a win, win for both parties. Tom has had an encouraging season with our Second Eleven and the chance to test himself at a higher level is not one to miss.”
Tom Lace himself commented:
“I would like to thank Middlesex for giving me the opportunity to join Derbyshire on loan until the end of the season and am very much looking forward to playing some first-class cricket.
My thanks also go to Derbyshire for this opportunity and I hope to be able to contribute towards them having a successful end to their Championship campaign.”
