MIDDLESEX CRICKET REWARDS 2018 PLAYER OF THE YEAR JAMES HARRIS WITH LONG-TERM CONTRACT EXTENSION
Middlesex Cricket is today delighted to announce that 2018 Player of the Year James Harris has been rewarded with a long-term contract extension, securing the fast bowling all-rounders’ services at Lord’s until at least the end of the 2021 season.
The 28-year-old joined Middlesex from Glamorgan in 2014 and has since taken over 250 wickets in all formats in just over 100 appearances for the club.
With 61 first-class wickets last term Harris led the Middlesex attack with distinction and underlined his all-rounder credentials with 454 Championship runs at an average of 32 - finishing the season as the club’s sixth leading run-scorer in four-day cricket.
On signing his contract extension with Middlesex Harris commented:
“I am thrilled to sign an extension to my contract with this great club.
“I have loved my time playing here to date and am very excited about the next three years.”
Angus Fraser, Middlesex Cricket’s Managing Director of Cricket commented:
“During a difficult year for the club James was outstanding in 2018.
“He was given greater responsibility with the bat and grew into the role. He played several vital innings and we all believe he has the potential to produce even more.
“I am delighted he has furthered his commitment to Middlesex. As well as being a fine cricketer he is a top man. Every club in the country would want a number of players possessing his characteristics and values.”
