MIDDLESEX WOMEN SIGN LAUREN BELL TO BOOST T20 TITLE DEFENCE

LAUREN BELL JOINS MIDDLESEX WOMEN FOR T20 TITLE DEFENCE

Middlesex Cricket is excited to announce that Lauren Bell will be joining the county for the 2019 T20 campaign - joining on loan from Berkshire and further cementing the relationship between both counties.

Bell will add further threat to Middlesex’s seam attack and provide quality to Middlesex's middle order.

18 year old Bell has already played over 40 matches for Berkshire Women since making her debut at the age of 14, during which time she has taken 39 wickets. In an impresive 2018 she picked up 14 wickets, hit 162 runs, and made her Kia Super League debut for the Southern Vipers later that year.

Bell is a very exciting seamer who has stood out whilst coming through the age group sides at Berkshire, catching the eye of many in the women’s game. She has been part of a number of Regional and National performance programmes, and is currently part of the England Women’s Academy.

Commenting on Lauren’s signing, Danni Warren, Middlesex Head of Women’s Cricket:

“Lauren signing for Middlesex is just one of the examples of our growing partnership with Berkshire. As a county they are producing a number of talented young players and we are pleased to be able to work with them to ensure that players are the given relevant opportunities to develop their game. Lauren is a player who many are talking about and one that we are confident will not only add to our strength and depth on the field but will bring a great attitude off it.

"After securing our first Division One T20 title last year it was very important to us to strengthen our side and Lauren is the perfect player to do this. We are all looking forward to her joining us over the coming months.”

Sanjay Patel, Middlesex Women’s Head Coach:

“We are really pleased to have signed Lauren for our T20 campaign.

"Speaking with her she has bought into our vision and reflects the values we want to promote within our group.

"Success is always harder when you are champions so it was important to us that we added players of Lauren's calibre to our side. I cannot wait to start working with her”

On joining Middlesex, Lauren Best herself commented:

"I am very grateful to Berkshire for all the amazing support and encouragement they’ve given me since I started with them at 8 years old and I am very much looking forward to helping them get back to where they belong in the top tier in the one day championship.

However, the opportunity to be part of another successful T20 season for Middlesex is so exciting. It will give me a chance to really progress my cricket alongside a highly competitive group of players.
