Middlesex enjoyed the best of the action on day one of our three day friendly against Somerset.
In the final friendly before the Specsavers County Championship match against Northamptonshire begins next week, Somerset won the toss and elected to bat first at Taunton Vale.
The home side began strongly, however after Hildreth was dismissed directly before lunch for 59 via George Scott, Somerset finished the first session of the day on 111/2.
After the break, Middlesex took firm control of the game, with all bowlers finding success. Murtagh found an immediate breakthrough after lunch, and Middlesex continued to take wickets at regular intervals from then on.
Somerset finished with 186, with Rayner, Barber, Murtagh & Harris all taking 2 wickets each. Bamber & Scott both finished with 1 wicket apiece.
Middlesex started their innings steadily, finishing the first day on 89/2, with Malan & Gubbins the two men at the crease.
