Middlesex Cricket can today announce that Ollie Rayner will be joining Kent Cricket on loan for the remainder of the 2019 season.
Off-spinner Rayner will join up with Kent next week and will be available for their forthcoming Championship match at Trent Bridge against Nottinghamshire on Monday 17th June.
On Rayner joining Kent on loan, Angus Fraser, Middlesex’s Managing Director of Cricket commented:
“Middlesex Cricket have agreed that Ollie Rayner will join Kent on loan for the remaining eight Championship matches of the 2019 season.
"Ollie has been an important and valued member of our squad for many seasons, but the coaches feel it is time to give Nathan Sowter an extended run in the first XI. Kent have enquired about Ollie’s availability, and it seems fair on all sides that he should have the opportunity to play regular Championship cricket for the rest of the summer.
"As with any loan, Middlesex Cricket have reserved the right to recall the player in the event of other players becoming unavailable due to injury or international commitments."
Ollie Rayner himself said:
“As my opportunities are slightly scattered at Middlesex I’m very grateful that the club have agreed to let me go on loan to Kent where I will hopefully play some regular Championship cricket initially.
“Kent is a great club and it’s a privilege that they have asked for my services and I’m flattered that they had me in mind to help bolster their spin department.
“It’s another exciting
chapter in my career and I’m very much looking forward to meeting up with them
on Monday.”
