CRICKET SIGN PAKISTAN’S MOHAMMAD HAFEEZ FOR VITALITY BLAST CAMPAIGN
Middlesex Cricket is delighted to announce that Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad
Hafeez has joined the club today.
Pakistan international Hafeez, 38, will be available for Middlesex for
tomorrow’s trip to Chelmsford to take on Essex in the Vitality Blast and for
each of club’s remaining South Group matches.
Hafeez, the vastly experienced aggressive top order batsman and off-spin
bowler, has amassed over 5,000 runs and taken 162 wickets in over 250 T20
matches and has hit almost 2,000 International T20 runs for Pakistan in 89
appearances, taking 54 wickets.
Hafeez will once again team up with Middlesex captain, Dawid Malan, having
previously played together with success for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan
Super League - winning the tournament in 2017.
Tomorrow’s clash against Essex will be Mujeeb ur Rahman’s final group stage
appearance for Middlesex in the Vitality Blast, as he will return home, having
been recalled by the Afghanistan Cricket Board.
As announced by Middlesex last week, AB de Villiers will join Hafeez as
Middlesex’s other overseas signing for the final two group matches of this
year’s Vitality Blast campaign against Hampshire on 29th August and Somerset on
the 30th August.
On the signing of Hafeez, Middlesex Cricket’s Managing Director of Cricket,
commented:
“We are delighted to have a player of Mohammad’s experience and ability to
join us for the last few matches of the T20 group campaign.
“Attempting to find players to fill the holes created by Mujeeb and AB’s departures is difficult, but when contemplating such a figure, Mohammad was top of our list.
“He’s been playing regular cricket all summer in the ICC World Cup for Pakistan and in the Global T20 tournament in Canada for Edmonton Royals and we’re really looking forward to welcoming him at Chelmsford on Wednesday.”
