Middlesex Cricket is delighted today to announce that Afghanistan international spinner, Mujeeb ur Rahman, will be re-joining the club to compete in next season’s Vitality Blast competition.
Mujeeb, who made a huge impact during his stay with Middlesex in what was a greatly improved campaign in 2019, will be available for Middlesex for all fourteen group stage matches and for the quarter-final knockout stage should the club qualify.
In 2019 the mystery spinner played a vital role with the ball, bowling the bulk of his overs during the opening powerplay overs, restricting opponents’ run scoring in this critical early phase of the game.
He returns to Middlesex, having played ten Vitality Blast matches for the club, in which he took seven wickets with an economy rate of just over seven.
Speaking of Mujeeb’s return to Middlesex next season, the club’s Head Coach, Stuart Law, commented:
“It’s great to have Mujeeb locked in for the Blast again in 2020.
“His ability to bowl economically in the powerplay is invaluable and he’s a great man to have in the dressing room.
“We look forward to seeing him back at Middlesex next season.”
Mujeeb himself commented:
“I enjoyed my time at Middlesex so much, so I am very pleased to be coming back.
“The whole team, on and off the field, made me
feel very welcome and hopefully we can be successful together next season.”
