Middlesex Cricket can today unveil the club’s pre-season schedule ahead of the start of the 2020 domestic season.
The club will once again be largely based at Merchant Taylors’ School in Northwood, where the bulk of the squad’s pre-season training will take place in the outdoor training marquee and practice net facilities.
On Saturday 7th March however, the fast bowlers within the squad will travel to Oman, where they will train, acclimatise and build up their workloads ahead of being joined by the remainder of the squad on the 10th March. The additional time spent by the fast-bowling unit acclimatising to conditions in Oman will ensure they are firing on all cylinders for when the batters arrive in the camp.
The group will then train together and play two competitive fixtures against the Oman national side - firstly a one-day 50-over fixture and then a red-ball multi-day fixture, before the group returns to the UK on Thursday 19th March 2020 to continue their pre-season preparation on home soil.
The club’s first pre-season domestic friendly takes place against Kent at Merchant Taylors’ School – a two-day red-ball match played on Thursday 26th and Friday 27th March.
Middlesex will then host Cambridge MCCU, again in Northwood, in the club’s opening first-class match of 2020 – a three day red-ball clash between Thursday 2nd and Saturday 4th April 2020.
Middlesex will then head South of the river to the Kia Oval for their final pre-season friendly, where London rivals Surrey will be the opponents in a two-day red-ball clash over Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th April.
This will complete the club’s pre-season preparations ahead of the opening clash of the 2020 County Championship season against Worcestershire at Lord’s on Easter Sunday.
