The Ruth Strauss Foundation Test match is the third match in the #RaisetheBat Series.
Day 1 of the Ruth Strauss Foundation Test match kicks off the #RedforRuth campaign, which will run throughout the Test match.
The Foundation is asking everyone to turn #RedforRuth for families facing one of life’s toughest tests.
All of the England and West Indies players will wear shirts with the Ruth Strauss Foundation logo and red playing numbers, and the in-ground branding at Old Trafford will turn red in support of the campaign.
This initiative follows the hugely successful campaign in 2019 when Lord’s was turned red and over £550k was raised for the Foundation.
The Ruth Strauss Foundation was established by Sir Andrew Strauss in honour of his wife Ruth, who died of a non-smoking lung cancer in December 2018.
The Ruth Strauss Foundation believes that every family facing the death of a parent from cancer should be offered professional, emotional support to guide parents on how talk to their children about their incurable diagnosis and dying.
In the UK every year around:
The funds raised will enable RSF to train care professionals (e.g. nurses, doctors and teachers), providing them with the necessary knowledge to be able to confidently support families with dependent children, when a parent hasn’t got much longer to live.
It will cost approximately £200 to train one care professional through the Ruth Strauss Foundation Training Programme.
The Ruth Strauss Foundation is asking everyone to wear red from Friday 24 July and post on social media using #RedforRuth to support families facing one of life’s toughest tests.
