We are extremely disappointed to announce that following Boris Johnson’s press conference this afternoon, we have been informed that the Kia Oval can no longer host spectators for the fixture between Surrey and Middlesex on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd August 2020.
This fixture will now be played behind-closed-doors without Members or fans in the ground.
A lot of hard work has taken place at Surrey County Cricket Club and The Kia Oval to ensure that Members and fans could return to the ground safely and Middlesex Cricket we were extremely grateful to all at Surrey for extending this opportunity to our members.
The Bob Willis Trophy fixture between Surrey and Middlesex will still go ahead behind-closed-doors, and Members and fans can watch the match for free via Surrey’s Live Stream via the Middlesex website.
Middlesex would like to thank all members and supporters for your ongoing support of the Club.
Richard Goatley, Chief Executive of Middlesex Cricket said: “I know this will cause great disappointment for all Middlesex members that were due to head to The Kia Oval on Saturday and Sunday to support Middlesex.
“We have always maintained the health and safety of our players, members, staff and general public is our primary concern throughout this crisis, and whilst we are all disappointed with this news, it is something we fully understand and wholly support.”
