STUART LAW NAMES SQUAD OF FOURTEEN FOR OPENING BLAST CLASH
Middlesex Cricket’s Head Coach Stuart Law has named a squad of fourteen to head to Chelmsford for the club’s opening Vitality Blast match of the season against Essex Eagles.
Law names Steven Finn as the club’s T20 Captain in the absence of Eoin Morgan, who is away on England duty, and his squad includes four players who could be set to make their Blast debuts for Middlesex.
Young leg-spinner Luke Hollman, top order batsman Joe Cracknell, wicket-keeper batsman Jack Davies, and paceman Miguel Cummins are all named in the squad, alongside many of the squad who were triumphant this week against Sussex at Radlett in the Bob Willis Trophy.
Law hinted at some changes when interviewed at Radlett after the Sussex victory, and continues his policy of blooding youngsters in the side, as he has done throughout the four-day competition this year.
Without Paul Stirling, Dawid Malan, AB de Villiers, Eoin Morgan and Mujeeb ur Rahman, the Middlesex side this year has a very different look and feel to the side that reached last year’s Quarter Finals of the competition, although this opens the door for others to come in and stake their claim for a regular place.
Middlesex name the following fourteen man to face Essex:
Steven Finn (captain)
Martin Andersson
Joe Cracknell
Miguel Cummins
Jack Davies
Stephen Eskinazi
Nick Gubbins
James Harris
Tom Helm
Max Holden
Luke Hollman
Dan Lincoln
John Simpson (wicket-keeper)
Nathan Sowter
