Middlesex Cricket can today confirm that the club will be playing three first eleven friendly fixtures in the pre-season warm-up period, ahead of the opening LV= Insurance County Championship match of the summer against Somerset at Lord’s on 8th April.
The professional squad began training this week on grass wickets in the marquee at Merchant Taylors’ School, where they will continue their preparations for the coming season over the next few weeks before heading into competitive action out in the middle.
They will first welcome Yorkshire to Merchant Taylors’ School for a two-day red-ball friendly, played over Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd March, before then playing host to Kent for another two-day red-ball friendly at the same venue over Thursday 25th and Friday 26th March.
The squad will then head to the Kia Oval the following week, where they will play a three-day friendly red-ball encounter with London rivals Surrey, played over Friday 2nd, Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th April.
Regretably, due to ongoing Covid restrictions, all pre-season matches will be being played behind closed doors, with no spectator admittance allowed.
