Middlesex Cricket is once again proud to support Stonewall's Rainbow Laces campaign to help deliver the message that cricket is a game for everyone.
This is the fourth year that the ECB has joined forces with Stonewall to show support for LGBTQ+ people, spreading the message that cricket is a game that welcomes all, and between 29th July and 1st August, cricketers across the country will be lacing up their boots with rainbow laces to show their support too.
Middlesex's cricketers will be taking part in the campaign during their Royal London Cup game versus Hampshire at Radlett tomorrow (30th July 2021), where aside of the players wearing their rainbow laces, the rainbow flag will be proudly flying high with the Middlesex flag above the Radlett Cricket Club pavilion, and the rainbow flag will also be on the match stumps throughout the game.
The Club will also be adopting the rainbow colours across its digital platforms throughout the day, with social media logos proudly displaying the colours of the rainbow to show support.
We know that most fans welcome and accept LGBTQ+ people in sport. However, we can’t let a minority spoil the game and make LGBTQ+ fans feel unwelcome, whether that be watching or playing the game we all love.
By supporting Rainbow Laces we are stepping up to show that offensive chants, language and discriminatory behaviour of any kind, through any medium, have absolutely no place in our game.
Join us, the ECB and Stonewall in helping to make cricket everyone’s game.
