Middlesex Cricket would like to express its congratulations and thanks to everyone at Swamibapa Cricket Club, who over the weekend completed an incredible 24-hour sports and well-being marathon at their local Hindu temple, Shree Swaminarayan Mandir in Kingsbury, and invited us along to join in the celebrations.
Covid restrictions have sadly meant that the community have been unable to utilise the full temple facilities over the last eighteen months and with the temple being such an important focal point within the community, representatives of Swamibapa CC wanted to host an event to bring the community back together.
Middlesex’s Ethan Bamber and Luke Hollman went along to the temple to represent the Club and join in the celebrations, which kicked off fittingly with an indoor cricket tournament in the sports hall.
With netball, yoga, football, volleyball, and plenty more going on besides, there was no shortage of activities for members of the local community to get involved in, and the Middlesex players were treated to a tour of the incredible temple facilities and shrine room and had the chance to speak to youngsters about their own lives as professional cricketers – hopefully inspiring the next generation to get involved in the game.
Our thanks go to Swamibapa Cricket Club for inviting us along to join them and help celebrate such a wonderful community event.
